leasing volume behavior

Hi,

Leasing volumes goes way back many years. Basically, when a process
needs a volume, it puts a "lease" on a volume, which keeps other
processes (and sessions) from interfering with it. The problem you're
seeing is that we don't release the lease until the whole thing is
done, even though we may be finished with a particular volume. I'll
have to investigate this to see exactly which component in the server
would need to change, and whether the change is a simple one or more
complex.

Matt Anglin
Senior Software Engineer, Tivoli Master Inventor

Dave Border:

A lot of discussion has been happening with my developers.
The conclusion is;

The current leasing volume behavior will not be changed in the maintenance steam. It would have to be handled
through a design change request.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family
