This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

In Debian Linux the rc.dsmcad startscript does not work for tw reassons:
1)
In Debian Linux default runlevel per default is 2 (can be between 2 and 5.) the dsmcad start sript rc.dsmcad is not setup to start on runlevel 2
cat rc.dsmcad
#!/bin/sh
#
# (C) Copyright IBM Corporation 2011
#
# chkconfig: 35 95 5
# description: IBM Spectrum Protect Client
#
### BEGIN INIT INFO
# Provides: dsmcad
# Required-Start: $local_fs $remote_fs $network
# Required-Stop:
# Default-Start: 3 5
# Default-Stop: 0 1 2 6
# Short-Description: IBM Spectrum Protect Client # Description: Start dsmcad to enable scheduler ### END INIT INFO
So, for the Debian BA client please update te rc.dsmcad to enable start at runlevel 2-5 at the following lines:
# Default-Start: 2 3 4 5
# Default-Stop: 0 1 6
2)
Debian is not picked up as a valid OS in the same script.
On the lines where Ubunu Linux is checked:
elif [ -f /etc/os-release ]
then
. /etc/os-release
if [ $NAME = "Ubuntu" ]
then
Change to:
#if [ $NAME = "Ubuntu" ]
if grep -e Ubuntu -e Debian -q /etc/os-release
then
This change have been tested and found to be working on various versions of Debian and Ubuntu.
