This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Currently data on a source Spectrum Scale clucster(or ESS) can be migrated to a target cluster using AFM prefetch function.
In case that a cluster uses HSM function which migrates data on GPFS to tape storage using ISP for Space Management, AFM provides a function to prefetch only stub file so that the data on tape NOT to be recalled to GPFS, and they are copied to the target cluster.
Since the customer wants to use the current tape storage for their new target cluster, they need this AFM prefetch function in this environment to migrate the data to the target cluster.
The issue here is that the files migrated from the source cluster to the new are marked as "expired" by DSM component of ISP for Space Management when dsmreconcileGPFS command is executed in order to perform reconcilation between GPFS and tape storage. The files marked as "expired" are the ones only whose metadata are copied to the target using AFM prefetch function explained above.
Even though the files are marked as "expired", they can be still recalled from the Tape System and accessed on the target cluster without any problem.
So the request is to improve the reconcile function of ISP for Space Management not to regard those files as "expired". This issue was once reported as a case, TS003440237, but this case was rejected because the development team thought this was not a problem of the product, but a new feature.
