Change of compression method in TSM Client API

Background:
The backup takes too long time (did not complete within backup window).
The restore and recovery takes too long time.

They investigated if compression of the SQL Server data can help to fulfill the backup and restore time, and figured out that LiteSpeed gets better performance than TDP for SQL due to that LiteSpeed uses a better compression algorithm.

Another example of TSM API compression compared to Database native compression I observed (same database, same data backed up):
TSM compressed data:  82746423 bytes  (86.45%)
    Compressed disk:  66383865 bytes (89.2%)

Meaning 1TB database represent 135G in TSM vs 108G on disk. CPU processing and elapsed time observed was about the same for both.

    Thanks, Pierre.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

Thank you for submitting the request. This is a recognized requirement and a solution appears to be a desirable objective.
There are currently no  plans to provide requested function.  No IBM commitment is made or implies as to the
eventual delivery of an acceptable solution.

"This is a TSM API work item (#2526) because the compression function used by the TDP clients is provided within the API. However, this item did not make the cut for TSM 6.3"

We have also checked whether we should use compression in:
    - The database vendor tool
    - Or in other competitor softwares LiteSpeed for Oracle
