Webclient for 7.1.8 and 8.1.2

please know that in the Healthcare and Hospital environment, the Web Client is very highly used, and extremely important. Your statement that the Web client is not needed because the BA client GUI is available and can be used. However, you fail to understand that to use the BA Client, you MUST be locally logged into the client server. In Hospital environments, it is common practice that Vendors as well as staff operators will be assigned to manage some levels of backup and restore operations on select client servers. However, they will not be given authority to log in locally to servers due to HIPPA and other regulations. I have 12 hospital environments and this is the case in all hospitals.

Thus, I am looking for a viable alternative to the web Client for 7.1.8 client/server environments. Also I'd like to know if either the Web Client or a similar process is being considered for future releases in order to perform basic backup, restore and query operations, without logging into the client server locally.

I require the Web client GUI to query the TOC of NDMP backup dumps and then selectively restore files out of the dump.

The normal GUI (dsm.exe) is not able do restores for NDMP backups.

Command line NAS restores require multiple commands (QUERY TOC, QUERY NASBACKUP, RESTORE NODE) in order to gather all the information required for a Point-in-Time restore of a specific folder/file from TOC to an alternate location. It took me roughly 2 hours to get a working "RESTORE NODE" command compared to 2 minutes in the Web Client GUI.

But this is no replacement for the WEBGUI NDMP restore function.

Without this function, we can not update to Version 7.1.8 or 8.1.3.

This request may not be delivered within the release currently under development, but the theme is aligned with the current multi-year strategy. IBM may consider and evaluate any RFE Community feedback for this request through activities such as voting. IBM will update this request in the future.
