This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

REPLICATE NODE for NAS nodes would get some of this. Someone else has an RFE for that.

"PROTECT STGPOOL to the cloud" did not make the list for 2018 nor 2019.
*weeping sadness*
The headline should probably say "PROTECT STG for NDMP into CLOUD", but I cannot edit that.
To clarify from this RFE and the PMR:
* The goal is to have a local copy, plus an off-site copy
* There is no tape involved, only Azure.
* BACKUP NODE works into a CONTAINER-DIR
* PROTECT STG works to a CONTAINER-COPY
* PROTECT STG fails to a CLOUD with ANR3251E.
* PROTECT STG to a CONTAINER-DIR on a second server works.
* UPD STGRULE ignores NDMP and never fires off a tier.
We did not do a BACKUP NODE directly to a cloud pool, because we need a local copy.
According to Keith Davey, plus the september tech PPT from Tricia Jiang, that is supposed to work.
I'm assuming it does, but it doesn't get us 2 copies.
We're considering PROTECT STG to a file class that sits on a network filesystem to a different datacenter, not Azure. (NFS to Azure is not yet available; and CIFS on AIX is too old to support Azure; and CIFS on Linux was declared unsupported.)
However, long-term, we would like to be able to PROTECT STG into a cloud pool. I'm assuming that would require a new pool type of CLOUD-COPY, based on what I've seen so far.
I left out, we started at 8.1.2, but bumped up to 8.1.3 during our troubleshooting.
Hi, Del. Hope all is well.
I can back up netapp dump to containers (not not the TOCFILEs).
I can use PROTECT STGPOOL to a local copy.
I cannot use PROTECT STGPOOL to a cloud copy, local or remote.
I tried tiering this to a cloud pool, and it silently ignores the NDMP data.
I also tried replicating to a second server, but it won't send the NDMP blocks to the cloud pool.
This is Azure on AIX, though we're in progress to replatform to AIX so we can use a FILECLASS since that will also take TSM DBB.
Note that none of these restrictions affect normal baclient data.
