TSM VE backups snapshots filling up datastore and crashing VM.

Please add an option in TSM that automatically cancels a VM backup when the snapshot is filling up the datastore. Without this functionality, the VM will crash and often requires extensive work for the VMware administrator to clean up the mess and bring the VM back online.

Thank you for the additional information. This is something we are looking at forthe future. I don't have a specific target date to share at this time.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately the suggested solution does not solve our problem. We need actual running backups to automatically cancel themselves once it has been detected that the datastore is low on space. The vmdatastorethreshold option only prevents new backups from starting if the datastore is low on space. Also vmdatastorethreshold needs to support setting a discrete number for free space required rather than just percentage used, since datastores can vary greatly in size.
    Please comment.
    Thank you

A solution to address this issue was delivered in version 7.1.4.4.

    See details here:

    https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGSG7_7.1.6/client/r_opt_vmdatastorethreshold.html

This option enables Spectrum Protect to prevent a backup from starting if there is not a pre-determined amount of space available on the datastore.
