MOVE DATA command enhancement (2)

After years of operations we have tens of thousands of tiny virtual volumes in TSM all belonging to one node. For example,

QUERY VOL TSM-SERVER.BFS.106394469 F=D

Volume Name: TSM-SERVER.BFS.106394469
Storage Pool Name: SERVER_ARCHIVE
Device Class Name: ARCHIVE_DC
Estimated Capacity: 0.4 M
Scaled Capacity Applied:
Pct Util: 100.0
Volume Status: Full
Access: Read/Write
Pct. Reclaimable Space: 0.0

The volumes cannot be reclaimed because the data has not expired yet.

If we had a similar situation of thousands of disk or tape volumes with only 0.4 MB of data they could easily be appended to a single disk or tape volume using the MOVE DATA command. However, existing virtual volumes cannot have data appended to them.

The enhancement I would like to see to the MOVE DATA command is to allow a group of virtual volumes be consolidated onto a single virtual volume; essentially making virtual volumes 'append-able'.
