TDP for MS SQL FCM GUI Customization

The way information is displayed in the FCM GUI interface, restore tab, is cumbersome to use, especially when dealing with multiple instances. We should be able to customize the column layout, and sort on multiple columns.

This request may not be delivered within the release currently under development, but the theme is aligned with the current multi-year strategy. IBM may consider and evaluate any RFE Community feedback for this request through activities such as voting. IBM will update this request in the future.

I personally feel the same about the new FCM GUI.

It is smart enough to detect SQL on a server even down to each individual instance that is running on the server but when you "pick" click on an instance with regards to performing a restore (Tivoli Storage Manager > Dashboard > Protect and Recover Data > SQL Instance). It will show you the backups for all instances on the server and not the one you have picked even if you open the GUI using a specific dsm.opt and tdpsql.cfg file if you are using a different dsm.opt and tdpsql.cfg file for each instance which in our environment we are as we feel it makes managing SQL backups easier.

The old TDPSQL GUI prior to the FCM MMC had this functionality and for that reason was easier to use. We are currently postponing upgrading to the new FCM GUI as during testing we concluded that the new GUI is missing functionality that the old GUI has making it much easier to use.

For these reasons I and a few of my colleagues have voted for this RFE as we feel that the new Flash Copy Manager GUI needs to be enhanced, made easier to use or needs to be more intuitive rather than show you all backup jobs/backed up files for all instances regardless of your selection while opening the GUI or within the GUI without the use of filters.
