VM "self-defined" backup using VM custom attributes

Many large IT organization are performing VM backups in a multi-tenant environment. In those complex environments, the VM naming convention cannot always be fixed by the IT and thus, backup setup rules thru the VM name (wildmask filters, host selection, etc...) are not applicable.
This requirement is to develop a "self-defined" VM backup behavior thru the exploitation of the VM customer attributes information.
The way the backup should be performed (proxy selection, policy domain, retention criteria...) should be dynamically decided at backup time using the information contained in the VM custom attributes.
