This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

We have a deployment coming up where the VMWare administrators are creating a new data center within the same vCenter and VMs from the existing data centers are going to be moved to the new data center.
I opened a PMR to find out if there was a way we could move the over 1000 VMs involved to the new data center within TSM, so that they wouldn't have to back up full again, and am disappointed that this isn't possible - particularly as some of these VMs are quite large (8TB+) .
It would be nice if we had either:
a) A TSM for VE specific mechanism by which we could associate VMs (aka filespaces) with new data centers (aka nodes)
or
b) A method in general within Spectrum Protect by which we could take a file space associated with one node and switch it to a different node.

Hi Jessica,
Have you tried to use the same node name on both of the VM hosts?
- asnode xxx might help (grant proxynode vmhost1 target=clusternode)
That would make both of the VM able to backup the guests to the same filespace.
We have clients using this trick, to sending backups to same fileshare using SPFS.

And I guess this can work here too.
