SPP within the Federal Market

Within the Federal Market, we are unable to sell Spectrum Protect Plus as it uses the CentOS as its base OS. CentOS is not able go through the DOD Security Technical Implementation Guide process (STIG) to identify vulnerabilities for the OS or the software. There is not a STIG for CentOS at this time and do not expect to see one in the future. To enable SPP to be STIGable the base OS would need to be ported to another OS such as Linux, Windows, etc... STIGs for the OS's can be found at the the following link: https://public.cyber.mil/stigs/.

Also the SPP software may have to be STIGed also which we would need to determine what STIG is applicable to the code.

Basing the Linux distribution on Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 8 would make the base OS ACAS and STIG compliant. The DoD STIG focus is on enabling auditing, the use of DoD PKI infrastructure, and hardening the Web interfaces of all applications.
