Additional SPP Support for Oracle XE Version

Backup by SPP not possible for Oracle XE: Oracle Database 18c Express Edition Release 18.0.0.0.0

    Dear Developer,
    you are right, oracle XE does not support parallel backups but I do not understand, why that is a problem for SPP.
    By default the XE databases did not gets bigger than 12GB and single backup stream should be enough for that I would guess…
    Parallel backup is a RMAN feature and SPP did not use the RMAN features so far as I know. And RMAN was able to detect that parallel channels are not possible and repeated with only one channel… If SPP is using RMAN features it should not be a big problem to include that possibility.
    On the other hand I think we are not the only customers, who wants to safe money for those "really small" databases and decided for Oracle XE… Please explain to us, why this is such a big problem for SPP.

    Oracle Database Express Edition does not support the parallel backup feature and so will not work.

    IBM has evaluated the request, and has determined that it can not be implemented at this time or does not align with the current multi-year strategy. This request may be resubmitted for consideration after 18 months from the date of submission. The request submitter will automatically be notified by email when the request qualifies for reconsideration and resubmission.
