This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Spectrum Protect client is the product.
Currently Spectrum protect client software manages backup and restore of files/directories of large Enterprise servers.
Spectrum Protect (SP) client has feature to exclude only NAS filesystem with the command "exclude.fs.nas". But it is good to have exclusion in future versions of SP for all type of filesystems like "exclude.fs.jfs, exclude.fs.ntfs, etc.," . This would help to exclude this particular filesystem from backup when new filesystems are created. Below are the options available to exclude in SP, but has disadvantages.
1. By explicitly mentioning the filesystem to be backed up, we will miss the backup of new Filesystem and would be SLA miss and fine for IBM
2. By excluding only current GPFS, new GPFS will be backed up automatically which uses SP DB. I am not worried about client storage. I can delete actual data and get the storage space. But SP DB does not give back the used pages easily. That is my concern.
