TSM Enhancement Request for virtual mount for Windows

Army ITA has a large Pentagon Telecomunications Center customer who has 34 bit Windows 2003 and moving to 64 bit Windows 2008. They are requesting virtual mount for Windows similar to what is currently availalbe for Unix. The current requirement for a registry change from host to virtual and back could effect applications. If TSM suppports virtual mounts for Windows, it could be used for replication and export, reduce the amount of data backed up, and need only one file space for recovery.

    Thanks for submitting this enhancement request, we currently do not plan to change the virtual mount mechanism for 64 bit OS

    Thanks for submitting this enhancement request, can you please provide more details about this requirement including the business reason (impact to SLAs, reduced RPO etc.), technical functionality  (what are you trying to achieve, and why do you think it should be done in this specific way etc.), some additional details about your current environment (for example a TSM 6.2 server running on AIX, the client is running on RHEL etc.) and any particular reason why the current implementation and best practices aren't meeting your requirements, while this statement might be more generic in nature please also refer to the comment on developerworks from vadzim@us.ibm.com
