Add TS1160 support to V7 Storage Agent

Platin/PlatiniumCustomer VW has more than 200 physical HP/UX and SUN Solaris server, running several applications, including Oracle, some of them larger than 100 TB. All these server are using TSM TDP with LAN free backup. VW purchased the TS4500 lib with 196 TS1160 drives. TS1160 is not supported by V7 Storage Agent, support has been added for TS1160 with V8. It is understandable the IBM will not deliver a V8 SA on HP/UX or SUN Solaris. Therefore the request to add TS1160 support into the V7 SA -- capable to work together with a V8 TSM server. It is not possible to use a SA on LINUX: VW has 200 physical server with 400 HBA .... The 400 HBA would be lost, and very high number of LINUX systems need to be installed, in addition a very high number of new HBA for Linux needs to be ordered ... And the IP traffic will kill VW.

    IBM has evaluated the request, and has determined that it can not be implemented at this time or does not align with the current multi-year strategy. This request may be resubmitted for consideration after 18 months from the date of submission. The request submitter will automatically be notified by email when the request qualifies for reconsideration and resubmission.
