Inband solution as alternative to CMS

When we heard about CMS (Client Management Services) during "Tivoli User Group" meeting in Sweden we loved the feature but the implementation not so much.
The current Implementation has two huge drawbacks
1) Another client on the system which needs to be managed
2) Current implementation makes it unusable to most Spectrum protect service providers and certain secure enviroments due to requirements (Open Firewall ports etc).

I would suggest that CMS are replaced/complimented by a inband solution. Couldn't the Spectrum Protect clients (File or Database etc) write logs files to the Spectrum Protect server as well as the local dsmsched/error logfiles. This would most likely affect the TSM server very lightly and OC and other reporting tools would always have access to the TSM server.
The Spectrum Protect server would only need to keep dsmsched/dsmerror.log/etc output for a very limited time maybe a day or honoring error/schedlogretention?
I do know that an inband solution would not work if the client has trouble connecting to the TSM server but if that happens client side access would be needed anyway.

IBM has evaluated the request, and has determined that it can not be implemented at this time or does not align with the current multi-year strategy. This request may be resubmitted for consideration after 18 months from the date of submission. The request submitter will automatically be notified by email when the request qualifies for reconsideration and resubmission.

There are a number of issues with the proposed "inband" solution as well. We do understand the base requirement here and our long term strategy is to make this as lightweight and as flexible as possible. Look for future statements from us regrading this topic.
