IBM has evaluated the request, and has determined that it can not be implemented at this time or does not align with the current multi-year strategy. This request may be resubmitted for consideration after 18 months from the date of submission. The request submitter will automatically be notified by email when the request qualifies for reconsideration and resubmission.

The major use case as described in this RFE seems to be transferring copy pool data from old storage technology to new technology. Here is what is available today to satisfy that requirement.
--- If the old and new storage are sufficiently similar that they fall within the same device class, data can be moved within the copy storage pool using one of the existing MOVE DATA command.
--- If the old and new storage devices are so dissimilar that they require different device classes, data can be backed up from the primary pool(s) to a copy pool with the new storage technology and then volumes in the original copy pool can be deleted.
