S3 Interface to SPP

The IT industry gets faster and faster and new tools get quicker implemented and all of them normally have a Restful API you can use to communicate with the new applications

I have fully understanding that IBM can't support all new applications and go to market could be a little bit slow.
There for this request to open the possibility to support new application ad-hoc by the users own skills and own priority list.
Instead of support all new applications and ideas, open a standard protocol that companies could write there data direct to, such a S3 interface.

Idea priority High

This request may not be delivered within the release currently under development, but the theme is aligned with the current multi-year strategy. IBM may consider and evaluate any RFE Community feedback for this request through activities such as voting. IBM will update this request in the future.

    Hi Josh,
I know about the offloading part to S3 such Cloud and Protect Server.
But I want to offload other application to SPP and not from SPP.

For the up coming S3 interface in SP is nothing that IBM have open for public use, but that is also of interest

    Thanks
    Christian

This may already exist, but not be supported. Spectrum Protect Plus offload uses S3 to an agent which writes into Spectrum Protect Server. That agent is only available for Linux SP Servers, and is only supported for SP Plus at this time. Operation Center shows it as "Object Clients".

It may be that with enough support, support could be extended to user-generated datasets; however, it might compete with other IBM products and services, and may also involve an increased cost of support.

However, that may be much more practical too see it go to the existing interface, than to create something for SPP.
