Spectrum Protect Client and Microsoft Onedrive backup failed.

IBM Case #TS001008967

The Spectrum Protect Client is crashing when it takes backup of files within the Microsoft's Onedrive synced folder.

Example:
06/08/2018 10:07:37 ANS9999E ..\..\common\winnt\ntrc.cpp(765): Received Win32 RC 362 (0x0000016a) from FileRead(): ReadFile '\\65xyj02\c$\USERS\POUY2201\ONEDRIVE\STL\STL_FILES\DEC001-051.JPG'. Error desription: Le fournisseur de fichier cloud n'est pas en cours d'exécution.
06/08/2018 10:07:37 ANS1999E Incremental processing of '\\65xyj02\c$' stopped.

This problem will happen when a file is present on your Onedrive synced folder, but it is not downloaded into the computer. You can identify those files by the "cloud" icon next to the file when browsing the Onedrive's folder. This means that the file exists online, but it is not replicated to your computer. The IBM client tried to backup that files and because this is not a real file, the backup will issue an ANS9999E and the backup will stop processing. This will lead to an incomplete backup of your computer and is the workaround is not applied, you may lose important data.

On the PMR I've open, the engineer said: « it's typical behavior for the client to terminate a backup which encounters a significant failure ».

So I've created that RFE from his recommendation, because for IBM, this is not something that needs to be changed.

    This is a defect. Actions have been taken to address this via an APAR.
