Reevaluate default settings for retention of events and how frequent you pull or generate them.
Option set:
Activity Log Retention: 120 Day(s) - keep actlog longer than 4 quarter time limit, 100 days bare minimum, old setting from a time when 1GB of actlog was 1GB to much, as in from 1995
Activity Summary Retention Period: 365 Day(s) - Keep summary on actions for a year for audit purposes, KPMG/Deolitte will like this
License Audit Period: 14 Day(s) - auditocc table is used widely and regularily, a month I feel is to long.
Event Record Retention Period: 14 Day(s) - No chnage, but...the events table is very heavy on select, yet many do select's on this table a few times a day. Fix this table so that it responds as well with select as with "q event"
Client Action Duration: 5 Day(s) - No change
Scratchpad retention: 365 Day(s) - No change

Status Refresh Interval (Minutes): 30 ----- Change to 30 min up from 5 min, I've had a few servers go down or not respond due to the default 5 minutes catching it self or to much load caused by frequent collection that no one is looking at 16 hours a day, set the default for 30 minutes. Also this work on the server seems to bog down other activify, even pause it, I've not debugged that further, just a feeling I got.
Alert Active Duration (Minutes): 480 - set for 8 hours to match a working day.
Alert Inactive Duration (Minutes): 4,320 - set for 3 days to cover the weekend
Alert Closed Duration (Minutes): 10,080 - set for a week, with this we can do a custom report in OC on a 7 day top alerts, invaluable for the busy admin.
