Data Integrity Verification during storage pool hierarchy (copy/migration)

We use IBM TSM for our long term data archives (company asset), and we regularly copy the primary storage pool (tape) to copy-storage pool (tape), mainly for Disaster Recovery. In addition, IBM TSM migrates data from pool to pool as a regular process.

We have enabled LBP and CRCdata to ensure data is validated at write or read time. However, data "in-motion" is not validated. For example, data migrated or copied from pool to another is not validated against the created CRCs. Therefore, this raises a big concern regarding data validity after years (mainly for the DR copy).

If we want to verify the data before it is sent offsite, we need to AUDIT every single copy storage pool volume before the volumes are checked out, and this is not feasible due to time and resource constraints.

We need a new design from IBM to include/implement data verification during copy/migration.

    We have reviewed the request again and it is not planned for our near term releases. We are still monitoring the votes.

    This request may not be delivered within the release currently under development, but the theme is aligned with the current multi-year strategy. IBM may consider and evaluate any RFE Community feedback for this request through activities such as voting. IBM will update this request in the future.
