This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

The current process to configure Tivoli Storage Manager for HADR is documented here:
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/wikis/home?lang=en#!/wiki/Tivoli%20Storage%20Manager/page/Electronic%20vaulting%20using%20deduplicated%20remote%20copy%20storage%20pools
This request is pecific to priming the target site's database for HADR, there is a requirement to take an offline database backup from DB2 directly (not an online database backup from within Tivoli Storage Manager).
An online backup does not work because a Tivoli Storage Manager database restore removes the database from roll-forward pending mode, which prevents HADR from being enabled. An offline DB2 database restore does not remove the database from roll-forward pending mode, which is why it is the documented process.
There are several options available that could allow a user to use an online database backup and restore;
a. create an option so that the restore does not remove the roll-forward pending flag (resulting in a code change).
b. manually set the database to roll-forward pending mode after the restore (resulting in documentation change).
We ask that one of these options be introduced and officially supported for priming an HADR's target database.
