Backup and Restore Storage Pool by using TSM Storage Agent

Currently Backup and Restore storage pool can only be done by TSM Server. Meanwhile there are many TSM Storage Agents deployed on the environment which are idle during non backup window. Backup data is always getting bigger, and increasing the TSM Server computing performance would not always be a feasible solution for backup storage pool.

TSM Server should be able to command these storage agents to handle the backup and restore storage pool. This solution will improve the backup storage pool process and utilize idle TSM storage agents. This can also reduce bandwidth utilization, as we can prevent data to flow between sites.

    IBM has evaluated the request, and has determined that it can not be implemented at this time or does not align with the current multi-year strategy. This request may be resubmitted for consideration after 18 months from the date of submission. The request submitter will automatically be notified by email when the request qualifies for reconsideration and resubmission.
