TDP agent Exchange 2010 DAG awareness

1. TDP agent aware of all the nodes in the DAG cluster so that they would be visible from any TDP agent GUI in the cluster.
2. TDP agent acts as the conductor on DAG setups when performing backup so backups can be started in parallel on each windows node in the cluster coordinated by a "master". This would help on setups where the databases might not be evenly balanced between the DAG nodes. Also on setups where there is more then 1 passive copy of a database, please see attached visio for a visual representation.
3. Option to select how many versions of passive databases to backup.
4. Same functionality on restore as backup as presented in visio drawing.
5. The agent must also include backup functionality of databases, which are not members of the DAG. Ie. public folders or other simple databases.
6. And the opportunity of having a list of DAG cluster groups, If there is more than one DAG cluster group in the organization, will also be a good thing to have.
7. The TDP should be able to continue its backup or ”failover” to another passive copy without starting over, in case the DB being backed up switch from being passive to being active.

DP for Exchange has delivered DAG awareness but not entirely as suggested in your request. The following has been provided: (1) options for backup deployment and ability to distribute backup workload or isolate backup activity to a dedicated node, (2) avoidance of redundant backups for the same databases, (3) ability to backup or restore from any node in the availability group. There are also several enhancements related to provision of common namespace for all backups, passive copy backup, exclusion of databases that are part of a DAG whether active or passive copies, minimum interval options for time between DAG copy backups of a database and other synchronization methods related to nodes of the same DAG.

If after evaluation of the current capabilities of our support you have requirements that still need to be addressed, please submit a new enhancement request.

Thank you for submitting this enhancement request, we have plans to address some of these requirements in a future release of TSM for Mail to enable a more transparent and easy management of Exchange DAG environments
