TSM for Space management - reconciliation preview

The reconciliation command (dsmhsmclc) in TSM for Space Management (Windows) has an option (reconcilemode=emulation) to preview the results of running reconciliation on a filesystem without actually deleting any objects from the TSM server. The equivalent reconciliation command (dsmreconcile) in TSM for Space Management (Unix) does *not* have this option. It would seem logical to have the same functionality in both versions of the product.

    • Before running the reconcile, set the option MIGFILEEXPIRATION to a high value like 30 days or so. This prevents, that the reconcile will expire, but not delete in one step and you have 30 days to recover the missing stub files.
    • Enable HSM logging for FILE and FS events so that all reconcile triggered expirations and deletions on the server gets logged.
    • After reconcile review the log information and collect all files you want to recover in a file list
    • When the review of the log has shown that files where expired that should be recove
