Long Startuptime with big Diskpool

Our TSM 6.3.5 Server with 22TB Data in a Diskpool and 200GB Database needs over 90min to start. The developers say, this is because of following Reason:

"In our V5 data base we had these things called bitvector objects which kept track of free space in the data base. The DB2 data base does not have a direct match to this type of object. Our developers did as close of an implementation as they could in 6.1 but ran into a lot of locking issues within DB2. In 6.1.5 and 6.2 and above they made a huge change and instead of keeping these bitvector objects on disk they create them at runtime based on entries in the volume contents tables."
For this Reason a big diskpool envrionment needs a long time to start. This is a no go for big disk environments.

IBM has evaluated the request, and has determined that it can not be implemented at this time or does not align with the current multi-year strategy. This request may be resubmitted for consideration after 18 months from the date of submission. The request submitter will automatically be notified by email when the request qualifies for reconsideration and resubmission.

DISK is not going to be fixed to address this. DEVTYPE=FILE is much better suited to large disk environments with considerably less overhead and better efficiency.

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
