Decouple TSM database from Storage Control - allow for VM based TSM

At present, TSM is typically deployed on physical machines due to the requirement to present physical tape resources.

I suggest that the database repository be decoupled from the data flow so as to allow the server to be virtualized and provide the data ingest capability on a separate server ( an expansion of the current TSM for SAN )

    Thank you for submitting the request. This is a valid request and could provide significant benefits with future global data management capabilities in TSM. However with current TSM architecture there is a concern on performance and scalability if we allow the server to be on a different machine from the database. The communication between DB client and server can be severely delayed. This is unlikely to be addressed in the next 2 years. If you feel strongly about the requirement, you could re-open the RFE after 18 months for reconsideration.
