Include text field in TSM client GUI to type path

In PMR 70622,100,838 we had the problem that using webclient to restore a group of files having selected PIT option before is not possible because an intermediate subdirectory had not an active version on that date.

Here is an example:

If there was any invactive copy on the server, the customer could see it in the WEB client directory tree. When PIT is specified and there is not any active copy, which corresponds to the PIT
condition, but there is at least one inactive copy, which corresponds to PIT, then the directory tree will be displayed and all inactive copies will be marked in an appropriate way.

Since the customer does not have any older invactive copy and the date of active copy is younger than the specified PIT, the customer can not see appropriate directory tree in the WEB client.

In our case this tree is:

606,208 B 05/20/14 03:10:28 DEFECTO A

/RTVENGD/FSD/content/FN22/FN22/FN0

If the date of FN0 directory (I am talking about an active copy) was older than PIT, the costomer could see this directory as well as files.

About getting into this situation. I believe that some directory has been created or removed under FN0. The creation or removing of the directory is the reason of changing parent directory
modification time. If the directory modification time changes, it will be updated on server side during backup.

I believe the directory FN0 modification time has been updated on server side and as a result customer does not see it in the WEB client because it does not correspond to PIT (it is younger) in our situation.

On the other hand, we could restore that group of files using command line since we could specify the whole path.

Our suggestion would be to include a textfield in webclient in which we could type a whole path, as Windows explorer does. So in those cases we would let webclient restore active files under an inactive (deleted) subdirectory having selected PIT option.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

IBM has evaluated the request, and has determined that it can not be implemented at this time or does not align with the current multi-year strategy. This request may be resubmitted for consideration after 18 months from the date of submission. The request submitter will automatically be notified by email when the request qualifies for reconsideration and resubmission.

In the meantime, ensure that your directories are bound to a management class with VEREXISTS=n, VERDELETED=n, RETEXTRA=n, and RETONLY=n where n is the number of days that they want to guarantee PIT restores from the GUI. For example, if you want to be able to always do PIT restored from the GUI up to 30 days ago, then set those values to 30. (Of course, the files within those directories are also have to be bound to management classes that retain the backups for the desired amount of time.). Otherwise you can use the command line, which does not have this limitation.
