Linux command for managing Spectrum Discover

Most UNIX/Linux users are used to work on the command line. I would like to propose the following idea:

  • create a command called "sdcli" (Spectrum Discover cli) or "dmcli" (Data Management cli) which can be a shell or Python script and can be installed on any Linux server

  • When run, the script fetches a bearer token via the REST API

  • Script determines the current directory, for example using "df ." and if on NFS uses the REST API to determine the "data source" in Spectrum Discover this directory is part of

  • Script provides several UNIX/Linux like arguments like:

    • sdcli find # Syntax similar to find command but uses Spectrum Discover to find files

    • sdcli cp # Uses Spectrum Discover to copy files, copied files will get the same tags as the original ones

    • sdcli mv # Uses Spectrum Discover to move files

    • sdcli policy run <policy name> # Given policy is run in the current directory

    • ... and more
