S3 bucket backup in Defender Data Protect urgently needs optimization to be usable in an environment with multiple buckets on the same endpoint.

Defender Data Protect allows you to add an S3-compatible source to back up S3 buckets; however, the implementation is flawed and hinders the backup process in several ways. For instance, an endpoint can only be added once with a single user; it is impossible to back up data using multiple users (i.e., different access keys) because the system flags the endpoint as already existing. Attempting to work around this by creating a dedicated backup user in the source S3 system—and granting that user permissions for the specific buckets—also fails. This is because DDP uses the "ListAllMyBuckets" API call, which only returns buckets owned by that user, rather than buckets where the user merely holds backup permissions. This implementation urgently needs to be modified to make the solution practical to use.
