Spectrum Scale ECE - Need quota feature to support limiting the resource usage on different storage pools

In more and more projects, we are delivering GPFS file systems with multiple storage pools for teiring. And our customers keep asking for quota limitation of each user/group/fileset on different storage pools, because different pools have different costs.

GPFS supports several storage pools in a single file system. And with ILM function, user can place data in different storage pools. For example, "hot data -> NVMe/SSD pool", "warm data -> HDD pool", "cold data -> tape pool". This is a quite normal user scenario. But currently, GPFS does not support capacity/inode quota calculation on different pools.

So we have strong demand that quota feature can support limit the resource usage on different storage pools.

Thank you for submitting this Spectrum Scale enhancement request. We have reviewed the request, and although it is a good candidate, it is not on our roadmap for the foreseeable future.
