Allow IBM Spectrum Protect Client installed directly on ESS Appliance Family

When performing backup operations on ESS using MMbackup and IBM Spectrum Protect, the current architecture needs to have a Backup Proxy in order to configure the IBM Spectrum Protect and MMbackup. In this configuration, MMbackup currently forces the use of the Production Network, which may compromise the Production Workload.

This request aims to suggest that, instead of using a “Backup Proxy” node, that the IBM Spectrum Protect Client be allowed or already installed on ESS Appliance directly on the ESSIO NSD Servers.

This architecture (IBM Spectrum Protect Client installed directly on NSD) is fully supported when using Spectrum Scale SDS and used to be supported in the legacy IBM SONAS solution.

In this sense, the ESS could transmit the backup data using a separated/dedicated network interface for backup, controlled by the Spectrum protect settings (TCPClientaddrress and TCPServeraddress), while running the mmbackup command.
