Allow guest access to an SMB share

With medical instruments and probably many other devices not always connected to an Active Directory domain due to aging operating systems on the instruments' consoles or instruments' vendors restrictions or limitations, it would be necessary for some very specific shares to allow guess access.


Using the following options in the smb.conf file or using the NET CONF SETPARM command would allow that:

"[global]

...

map to guest = Bad User

guest account = myguestaccountid

...

[MYSHARENAME]

comment = Public Access

path = /stage/temp

force create mode = 0777

force directory mode = 1775

guest ok = Yes"

    Thank you for submitting this Spectrum Scale enhancement request. We have reviewed the request, and although it is a good candidate, it is not on our roadmap for the foreseeable future.
