All GPFS services need to support FIPS.

Because of DISA-STIG requirements, all systems we use must enable FIPS. mmcallhome (and maybe other components of GPFS) use MD5 summing, which will not work on a FIPS enabled system.

This needs to be fixed.

At this time, mmcallhome is the only issue we've experienced that has thrown up a FIPS message.

We've had no issues to speak of related to "FIPS1402mode":

    # mmlsconfig | grep -i fips
    FIPS1402mode yes

On any of our systems otherwise.

We are currently working on FIPS compliance for call home under a separate defect. However, FIPS support for the entire product is not in scope for 2021 as this is a very large undertaking. We may add FIPS support in additional specific areas. Other than call home, are there specific functions that are a concern for you?
