File sync tools and Spectrum Scale permissions

Copying data in Spectrum Scale, especially from external sources, can be problematic at times due to the way permissions work. This is particularly a problem when data needs to be synced through time in preparation for cutting over from a new external source, or even from other locations in a Scale filesystem.

    IBM has supported enterprise solutions for file sync including AFM and Aspera. rsync is open source so if anybody in the community is willing to enhance it for Scale ACL support they are free to do so. However, it is not in plan for IBM itself to do this enhancement.
