Thank you for submitting this enhancement request. This is not in the Storage Scale Roadmap in the foreseeable future.

We use realmd and sssd to join our RHEL 7 and 8 systems to Active Directory, following Red Hat's guidance on direct AD integration.

It would be useful to be able to use this configuration to also support authentication to Spectrum Scale protocols, particularly SMB.

Currently, we have to disable sssd so that Scale's winbind can work correctly. Additionally, we have to add UIDs to AD accounts so that the UIDs for Scale with winbind match the UIDs for sssd on other systems.

Directly integrating CES authentication with sssd would make our authentication configuration much more straight forward.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - IBM Spectrum Scale
Product - Spectrum Scale (formerly known as GPFS) - Public RFEs
    Component - Product functionality

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - IBM Spectrum Scale
Product - Spectrum Scale (formerly known as GPFS) - Public RFEs
    Component - Technical Foundation

Here is a customer from Germany. We had the same request here. What we understand that NTLM Function are not available on sssd today.
This Gap here is responsible to Redhat(now IBM). A solution can be the possibility to integrate sssd for the 'Computer account' and scale ces protocoll for the AD Connection. Special Point here is the use of kerborized Protocolls like nfs or smb. The Problem here is both Services use today the same krb5.ketab file and this is actual unsoportet end not functioning becouse sssd has ad_maximum_machine_account_password_age = 30 and CES has no account pw age. This is conflicting here. Our requirement are separate the the keytabs and activate also a pw cycle renewal here.

After the recent conversation with GM, it is not clear to me whether we are now talking about sssd or windind. Can you clarify?
