This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

So far, in Spectrum Scale, all user management is done by OS, e.g. by /etc/passwd, by AD or LDAP. However, for administration, there is only one role: the user root or the common user with sudo permission.
No matter it's the user root, or it's the common user with sudo configured permission, the password of the user root or sudo admin has to be shared for all administration.
Considering that, the ESS storage is managed by storage department but the fileset or one file system is managed by its business owner, the customer requires user/role management in Spectrum Scale level. e.g. configure userA as cluster admin and this user can do some cluster-level management operations(e.g. mmaddnode, mmdelnode, mmchcluster etc), configure userB as the file system 1 admin, the userB can create fileset/snapshot or delete fileset/snapshot against file system1; configure userC as the filesetA owner of file system 1, the userC can only do filesetA related operations(e.g. set quota, create snapshot etc).
