GPFS needs better contol over NSD IOs for mixed devices SSD + SATA

For a cluster that has a mix of SSD and SATA drives for different storage pools the current architecture queues IO to small (64K) and large queues. For the cluster I was examining we saw SSD IOs being blocked by slow SATA IOs on the NSD server for upto 6 seconds. I believe this is a limitation of our current NSD server design, we have two NSD queue divided based on IO size which allowed slow device to limit our over all IO thru put. This issue will probably come up more often as more customers start using a mix of SSD and traditional spinning disks.

Product family - IBM Spectrum Scale
Product - Spectrum Scale (formerly known as GPFS) - Public RFEs
    Component - Product functionality

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:

Product family - IBM Spectrum Scale
Product - Spectrum Scale (formerly known as GPFS) - Public RFEs
    Component - V4 Product functionality

Can you provide more specific details of the configuration in use here? e.g. number of storage pools, what's in each pool... thx
