This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

We are deploying GPFS into production enviroment, but GPFS has problem with SMB service. SMB service (smbd) reports double size share than is real. This is caused by filesystem replication on two storwize V5010.
The solution of this problem is to use SMB option dfree command. The option can run custom shell script, which returns two integers in ASCII. The first should be the total disk space in blocks, and the second should be the number of available blocks.
The shell script divides two integers by 2. This option was tested in virtual testlab with general Samba (https://www.samba.org) and Samba package from RedHat official repository. This experiment was successful.
The option can be set per share in smb.conf. It means that the option will be used only on replicated filesystems for the correct report size of SMB shares.
The GPFS SMB service from development is based on the general Samba, but no support this option. Could you this option (dfree command) add to new build of smbd service?
Thank you for update current release GPFS SMB service.
