This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Currently there is a limitation of MAX groups per user what are supported by current GPFS on AIX 7.1
Long time ago AIX 7.1 (~2010) did increase maximum of groups per user up to 2048 where GPFS keep support to only first 128 groups ( like old AIX 6.1). ( in our GPFS functional testing we did reproduce this issue)
Based on the web research -> others ( financial institution using SAS/GPFS) have or are expected to have very similar requirements “to new required granular LAM access model).
With SAS data protection and access management model we went over 400 user groups to control different level access to data or functions. There are many users who today exceeded a limit of 128 AD/LDAP groups per one UID.
What will take to prioritize and expedite the development request to increase AIX GPFS support up to full level of AIX 7.1 OS ( GPFS max groups per user from 128->2048)? Client would likely be willing to compromise to 500-1000 max groups per user-ID range, if that makes this request easier to implement.
