Add support to api calls for not following symlinks

It would be useful if the GPFS api commands that accept a filesystem path as an argument could support an optional flag such that if the final component of the path is a symbolic link the link is not followed. The goal is to be able to perform an operation on a given, possibly untrusted path, as a privileged user and being able to ensure that no symbolic links in the path are followed.

If there isn't a security concern here then please let me know. The priority of the RFE was based on that.
