Spectrum Scale should easily detect when only a single usable copy of any piece of data remains.

Spectrum Scale allows users to define multiple replicas of any portions of file systems. Upon disk failure, restriping allows replicated data to be replaced on other working local storage. Quality of service lets administrators regulate system resources occupied by restriping operations. However, there is no easy way to determine whether failures have reduced the user to just a single copy of any data.

    Is this the kind of information that you're looking for, or is this insufficient, and if so, exactly what semantics are desirable? If you need more than this, please submit a new RFE with the specific details.

    mmlsdisk command displays an additional message if some data is exposed, i.e. only a single replica exists:

    Attention: Due to an earlier configuration change the file system
    may contain data that is at risk of being lost.

    Is this the kind of information that you're looking for, or is this insufficient, and if so, exactly what semantics are desirable?
