This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Component - V4 Product functionality
This issue is addressed by an already existing RFE.
Creating a new RFE based on Community RFE #85282 in product Spectrum Scale (formerly known as GPFS) - Public RFEs.
At the Leibniz Supercomuting Centre we see several use cases where the number of 1000 independent filesets is a limitation, at least in the midterm. This is first using it together with Openstack and Manial as "Cloud Network Filer" in a mid to large scale Openstack environment, we currently plan.
And second using it as Long Term HPC Project Storage in SuperMUC NG where we want (to continue) to deploy an independent fileset for each HPC Project. This schema we already use for SuperMUC and have already 800 independet filesets deployed. On SuperMUC NG we will definitely cross the 1000 boundery.
We suggest a new "limit" in the range between 10000 to 20000.
The issue has already been discussed with GPFS 3rd level support and people from development. There are several major GPFS customers which run into problems because of the fileset limit.
