This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

When executing failover, restore or failback, the instructions in Section 16 of the document “IBM Spectrum Scale 4.2: Advanced Administration Guide” clearly states that one must remove and then re-create file authentication on the relevant cluster(s). IBM support have indicated that when protocol configuration is restored or failed over or failed back, it is similar to disabling a protocol (which removes all protocol information) and then enabling it again with new configuration information. To disable some of the protocols, the authentication method must be removed first (such as in the case of SMB with Active Directory authentication). Due to the complexity of the many types of authentication configurations allowed, IBM were not able to automatically perform this step in the 4.2 release. IBM stated they are looking to add this feature in a later release. This RFE is to escalate that process. Not the priority of this request may be lower if the removal and re-addition of authentication is not needed for NFS (the first protocol we intend to support in our NAS-as-a-server offering.
