There's been a lot of work done in this space in recent 3.5 updates. It is now possible, for example, to create snapshots while mmrestripefs is running. In general, the rules for what mm commands cannot start while another mm command is running have been relaxed considerably. We need a more specific problem description, based on the observations done with the latest level of code.
