A true globally accessible and coherent cache would indeed be a nice feature to have. However, it would also be very, very hard to implement with the desirable semantics and fault tolerance. It should be noted that in the GPFS Native RAID case, there is already a full data caching layer implemented in the server layer. We don't have any current plans to implement global caching with greater scope.
