"Too Many Groups" - Need to increase the amount of GIDs for Scale Linux from the current limit of 1020.

if a person was a member of more than X groups, they couldn't access the GPFS filesystem. The customer opened a ticket about it with IBM. This would have been awhile ago – 2019 or so?   I don't have the ticket number.  Census has quite a few projects/users with more than 1000 GIDs; any arbitrary user can wind up having more than 1020 groups, which appears to be the limit for boxes configured with smaller page sizes that are running Scale 5.X.X.

The customer worked around the problem, but doing so involved treating projects with "too many groups" in a different way than groups with fewer than X groups.

Customer  was able to find this from the documentation (see attached file). From the customer,  "If you could talk to your people and get them to fix this, we'd love GPFS even more than we already do.  🙂"

However the workaround is "A complete Kluge", so the customer is requesting this GIDs maximum number be bumped up for Linux (currently 1020 limit).

Thank you for submitting this enhancement request. This is not in the Storage Scale Roadmap in the foreseeable future.
