Omnipath network support by Elastic Storage Server 3500/6000 (now called IBM Storage Scale System 3500)

 IDRIS is an Education and Research customer hosting on of the largest compute center in France for several research entities  (CNRS, GENCI, ... : http://www.idris.fr/). They currently use a very large Spectrum Scale appliance configuration with Lenovo DSS (25 PB). IBM was not able to deliver Omnipath high-speed network connectivity with ESS Gen2, so there was not other option for IDRIS than chosing Lenovo when they acquired their Scale appliances 5 years ago. There will be an opportunity to renew 25 PB of Spectrum Scale appliance capacity in 2024, and maybe more if capacity upgrade is required for the new RFP.

This RFE  is to have Omnipath network from Cornelis (Intel Spin-off) supported by the ESS3500 and future ESS6000 (IBM Storage Scale System). Note that our competitor Levono seems to be still supporting Omnipath and so, IBM is still not able to position Storage Scale Systems (ESS) to answer the future incoming RFP.
