ESS/Scale Crit Sit AB9147 opened 3/4/21 - Temperature Sensor Failure message requires replacing entire enclosure.

Problem Description:
Management GUI shows rsrch1 GL6S ESS 3 Enlosure 78R0299 needs service. Shows temperature sensors 5, 7, 11 and 15 failed.

The issue is that for a minor problem with temperature sensors failing a major service event bringing the entire ESS down in order to replace the entire enclosure is unacceptable for a storage array of this magnitude.

This is considered a design flaw that needs to be rectified by making the temperature sensors plug-able to the enclosure, which if the temperature sensor fails all that needs to be done is that the temperature sensor is replaced instead of the entire enclosure requiring a hard shutdown of the array impacting potentially thousands of users.

We no longer use this specific enclosure, but we are working with vendors to see if the capability can be included in future enclosures.

The GLxS model uses the 5147-084 storage enclosure that has been Withdrawn from Market (WFM).
ESS should ensure that all future storage enclosures are designed with serviceable temperature sensors.
